In his defense, he stated that he was not the person in charge of the fireworks display, that caused the stampede, he was not a custodian for gate’s keys. He further states that the planned arrangement by Freedom City management was that if the venue is closed, fans would have to access the fireworks display through the parking lot..

Events promoter Andrew Mukasa, alias Bajjo, shocked Ugandans on Wednesday when he said Bebe Cool should be paid Shs1.5 million to perform at a show, valuing him less than younger talent like Grenade Official. Bajjo, who is the coordinator of the National Promoters Association.David Lutalo, according to Bajjo -- is the most valued musician at Shs7m, coming below Bobi Wine, who is now a politician, valued at Shs20 million. The reasons for giving Wine that figure are obvious. Asked why Lutalo is valued higher than the rest, he said: "Because he is a crowd-puller. Lutalo and Sheebah are crowd-pullers. Mzee [Fred] Sebatta may pass by and you don't even notice him, but when he announces a show, you'll come." He added: "But Ziza Bafana and Bebe Cool will always attract your attention but you won't attend their concerts." Bajjo offered Gravity Omutujju Shs1.5-2m because "he has bubble gum music."Bajjo released a list containing new costs for hiring singers, giving Kenzo Shs7 million, Pallaso (Shs3.5 million), Jose Chameleone (Shs5 million), Grenade (Shs1.5-2m), Sheebah Karungi (Shs5-6m), Winnie Nwagi (5-6m), Spice Diana (4-5m), Mesach Ssemakula (3-3.5m), Geoffrey Lutaaya (2-3m), King Saha (2.5m) and Kapa Cat (Shs500-600,000).
